Rep. Barney Frank the Congressman who introduced legislation to legalize Online Gambling in the United States doesn't agree that a study on internet gambling would be useful. Studies don't do much Frank was quoted as saying. What is there to study? Whether Americans have the right to bet online in their own home? That is the question here, should a government have the authority to prohibit its citizens from enjoying a recreation in their own homes.

Ironically Rep. Shelley Berkley of Las Vegas introduced a bill in June to study internet gambling for one year in order to identify the United States proper course with respects to the legalization of gambling online. Berkley's bill has support of 68 co-sponsors while Franks has only 38 co-sponsors.

While Mr. Frank wants to overturn the Anti-gambling Legislation, Berkley wants to study it first.

Whether or not the American citizens approve of online gambling the facts remain that it is an attempt to control the personal rights and freedoms of the American people. First it's online gambling and what's next….. you won't be able to buy a case of beer on Friday nights because it is illegal to drink???? Sound familiar?

Governments are elected officials by the people and for the people to ensure that their basic human rights and freedoms are upheld by the law of the land. Its time that the Government of the United States take a look at what's really happening. How can it be bad to bet on a football game online or play poker in your living room but if you want to lay your weekly paycheck online at the numerous state owned online horse betting sites that isn't a problem?

It's a good thing that the people of American still have politicians who believe in protecting the rights of the individual and that there must be a separation of church and state. What a few politicians find offensive doesn't mean that the rest of the population doesn't enjoy.
